It’s been two years since Ferrari released their 488 GTB and naturally, we all knew what was coming next. However, this time around, instead of going for names like the Scuderia or Speciale, they have decided to adopt something very new- Pista.
The new Ferrari 488 Pista get more than 700 horsepower and will compete with cars like the 911 GT2 RS and Mclaren 720S.
Here are things you need to know:
Ferrari 488 Pista (GTO) – Design & features
The Ferrari 488 Pista (GTO) shares basic design with the 488 GTB but lightweight components and extreme aerodynamic additions have been employed. At the front, Ferrari’s signature ‘performance’ twin stripes can be seen along with F1-inspired’ S-duct and front diffusers. These increase downforce by 20 per cent.
The rear wing is higher and wider- nestled between round taillights with new blue highlights. There’s also a new GTE-sourced ‘double-kink’ rear diffuser.
An evolution of Ferrari 458 Speciale’s Side Slip Angle Control (SSC 6.0) is available which provides better torque management and in essence, control a number drive dynamics. This should help keep the non-Ferrari-test-drivers off the gravel.
Ferrari 488 Pista (GTO) Engine, Specs
This is the most powerful Ferrari V8 ever and obviously, the numbers are quite impressive. A combination of inconel exhaust manifolds, a lightweight crankshaft and flywheel, titanium con-rods and carbon fibre intake plenums, help the 488 Pista’s 3.9-liter bi-turbo V8 to produce 710 bhp of power and 568lb ft.
The car does 0-60 mph in 2.85 seconds (down from the GTB’s flat 3), inching very close to the the 2.4 seconds of their million dollar hyper car- the LaFerrari. Top speed is 211 mph.

Ferrari 488 Pista (GTO) price, release date, availability
The new Ferrari 488 Pista should command a heavy premium over the GTB. It will reach dealerships across the world later this year.
The 458 speciale, in its absolute bare form, commanded £30,000 more than the 458 Italia. The 488 GTB already costs £183,984, so are expecting the Pista to come with a much bigger difference.
|Price in UK||£225,000|
Similar pricing will be expected in USA as well and it should command not-less-than $50,000 premium.
