Mercedes EQC spied – Tesla be worried!
A production prototype of the Mercedes EQC has been spied testing for the first time. It looks similar to the EQ concept that Mercedes revealed at the 2016 Paris Auto Show.
If you don’t know, the EQC is first among atleast six EQ-branded electric cars that Mercedes hopes to bring out by 2025.
|Electric Motor power||402 bhp|
Mercedes isn’t new to the all-electric game and they already have cars the B-Class electric and the GLC F-Cell (which went in to preproduction recently). However, starting 2019, the Stuttgarter is shifting focus towards their EQ brand.
The Mercedes EQC is based on a bespoke electrified platform. It gets an imposing front fascia and slanting roof- similar to the concept. Its ground clearance seems to be lower than typical SUVs, probably owing to aerodynamic reasons.
A lithium-ion battery pack provides power to two electric motors, placed one each on its two axles. The have a combined output of 300kW (402bhp) and is expected to do 0-62 mph in near 5 second times. Mercedes wants the car to have a range of 300 miles.
Volvo’s upcoming all-electric hatchback will also have 300+ mile range.
We love Mercedes’s latest interior design language but the EQC could get an altogether different one. Taking a leaf out of the concept, it could have a minimal dashboard design with futuristic center console and instrument cluster. However, unless more images come out, we are also in the dark.
Mercedes EQC price and release date
Mercedes might price the EQC over the GLC. Its production will begin next year.
