2019 Chevy Camaro – What’s new?
The new Camaro has enough changes to improve it standings in the competitive segment. These include changes to exterior and interior, engine and even transmission options.
Let’s check some of them out:
Like the previous model, the LS/LT, RS and SS continue to have noticeable distinction in styling. Its front fascia gets different grille, LED dual-element headlamps and redesigned hood. The sporty SS variants get a ‘flowtie’ which not only looks unique but also improves the overall air flow quotient.
The new Camaro gets 20” wheels on some variants. The rear has been updated as well, and gets signature dual-element tail lamps in either red or smoked form. Special diffusers are available for the RS and SS variants when equipped with Dual mode exhaust.
Talking about the RS, this appearance package adds features like Galvano Chrome lower inserts, new LED headlamps and light bar, different front fascia and 20-inch wheels.
The top-of-the-line Camaro ZL1 already has extremely tweaked aerodynamics, so changes to its front fascia are few.
Subtly updated interior
Changes to the interior are few, and limited to updated ambient lighting options and increased standard tech (rear-view camera in higher variants). The car gets 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system as standard while an 8-inch one with Infotainment 3 and navigation is available.
The Infotainment 3 is an all-new system in the Camaro and helps to improve driver-to-car communication and personalisation. Chevrolet claims that this system has functionality similar to smartphones.
Safety has also improved on the 2019 Chevy Camaro with the addition of Forward Collision Alert and Enhanced Performance Data Recorder system.
The current line-up of engine and transmissions options should continue. However, the SS trim now boast of a 10L80 10-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission with track-oriented features like custom launch control and line lock.
Chevy has not confirmed whether the engine outputs have gone up.
What about the Camaro Turbo 1LE
The Chevy Camaro Turbo 1LE joins the rank of other track-ready variants including the V6 1LE, SS 1LE and ZL1 1LE. It will come with a 2.0L turbocharged four cylinder engine, mated exclusively to a six-speed transmission. The car’s frame is derived from the V6 1LE.
Inside, suede flat-bottom steering wheel and gear knobs are present. There’s even an option to choose Recaro sport seats. The car’s drive mode selector has ‘sports’ and ‘track’ knobs, latter of which has features like performance instrument readouts, launch control and shift lights.
|Power||275 hp (205 kW)|
|Torque||295 lb-ft of torque (400 Nm)|
