2019 KTM 250 models MX and Enduro

KTM has updated their entire 250cc MX and Enduro range for 2019. The motorcycles get slight mechanical changes and feature upgrades, as well as new set of decals.

KTM’s 250cc dirt bike range is very popular North America and is one of the segments where the Austrian manufacturer really shines. Their portfolio is comprised of complex 4-strokes, agile 2-strokes, outright dirt machines and grounded dual-sports. Pretty well-rounded, I’d say.

Here are the KTM 250 models for 2019:

2019 KTM 250 SX-F MX

KTM’s quarter-liter MotoCross (MX) range comprises of two motorcycles- 250 SX and 250 SX-F. Though both these bikes look similar they do have some noticeable differences.

For starters, the KTM 250 SX is a 2-stroke machine and claimed to be one of the fastest quarter-liters on the dirt track. It comes with a 249cc single cylinder engine mated to a 5-speed gearbox. This mill sits on a steel central-tube frame, cushioned by WP suspension. Stopping power comes from 220mm disc at front and rear.

In comparison, the KTM 250 SX-F comes with a single cylinder, 4-stroke engine of the same capacity. It is mated to a 5-speed transmission as well. Its chassis and suspension don’t change but the front brake of the SX-F gets a 260mm disc brake.

The KTM 250 Enduro range is for the budding dirt bike enthusiasts who want something that performs great on dirt and rock trails while still being capable on the tracks. They get different set of tyres (with thicker knobs) when compared to the MX and some even come with head and taillights. Further, the KTM 250 EXC-F is the only street legal motorcycle in this 250cc category in US.

2-stroke models

For 2019, two 2-stroke 250cc Enduro motorcycles will be available. These are the popular 250 XC, and the 250 XC-W TPI.

The KTM 250 XC is the standard carburated 2-stroke model which we’ve had for some time now. The bike is claimed to have the best power-to-weight ratios in its class, and can give most competitors (including higher capacity ones) a run for their money. This engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission.

The 250 XC-W TPI is special because it is the first mass produced Fuel injected 2-stroke from KTM. This makes the bike well within the emission and noise regulations, and is perceived by many as a comeback of the popular yet dwindling 2-stroke segment.

This bike has head and taillights.

4-Stroke models

The 2019 250cc Enduro lineup also consists of two 4-stroke models- 250 XC-F and 250 EXC-F.

The KTM 250 XC-F in simple words is the 250 XC with a four-stroke engine. It shares most features with the latter.

The KTM 250 EXC-F is the only street legal motorcycle in this list and comes with features tailor-made to meet regulations. These include thicker tires with smaller, closely-packed knobs, head and taillights, mirrors, indicators and different standard exhaust system.
