2019 Chevy Silverado summed up in 5 interesting points
Chevrolet has completely revealed the 2019 Silverado pick-up truck at the 2018 North American International Motor Show, Detroit. It is bigger and bolder than before and comes with a host of new interesting upgrades.

The Detroit-based manufacturer sees their new truck as an industry-changer and it sure does have a lot going on to justify this claim.
Here are some of them:
Light and aerodynamic design
Polarising reactions to its design aside, the 2019 Chevy Silverado is aerodynamically more capable than its predecessors. It is also lighter in weight (by 450 pounds), thank to a mixed-material construction, combining aluminum and steel throughout the truck’s body.
Aluminum and high tensile steel is also used on the upcoming Ford Ranger mid-size pickup to reduce weight.
The truck’s front fascia is as imposing as ever but certain bits like the side air curtains helps to improve its aero quotient (by a fair amount). This feature was, aptly enough, first used on their Camaro sportscar.
On its sides, the lines and channels feel more aerodynamically-inclined. Also, round fenders makes a comeback after a long hiatus.
The Silverado’s bed has grown by atleast 7 inches, whihc is a welcome upgrade. However, it is made entirely of steel and does nothing to reduce weight. Different variants will have different bed sizes as well.
GM’s Mark Reuss says it is ‘the most functional bed of any fullsize pickup’. Apart from its wider size, GM engineers have shaved off a few extra inches underneath the typical bed line as well.
Extensive engine and transmission options
The 2019 Chevy Silverado is offered in six different engine and transmission options. These include a 5.3- and 6.2-liter as well as a 3.0-liter inline-six diesel. Since Ford came out with a diesel mill for their F-150, GM also expressed their confidence that theirs will be the ‘best performing diesel in the segment’. Official figures have not come out but the 250 hp V6 diesel on the F-150 sure looks like an easy target.
Efficient Storage utilization
One of the highlights of the new Silverado is its no-wastage space utilization. Apart from the regular cubby-holes and pods, storage areas are provided underneath the seats and on the rear seat backrest. In some variants, there’s extra storage in the center console area which also doubles up as a seat (almost like a bench seat).
Similar storage utilization is seen on the bed as well- storage bins over the wheel wells providing nearly seven cubic feet of lockable storage space.
Since it is moving on to a new generation, the 2018 Chevy Silverado comes with whole lot of new tech. Some of the prominent ones include:
Head-up display: Its top-end High Country variant now comes with a Head-up display that will show information like speed and navigation.
Dynamic fuel management: This advanced fuel management system can turn of engine cylinder when not in use. The truck can essentially run on a single cylinder and should drastically improve fuel economy.
Power tailgate: In an industry first, the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado comes with an electric tail gate. It can be operated by a button inside the cabin, the key knob or manually by hand.
