2019 KTM 790 Adventure spied
Update: New KTM 790 Adventure and Adventure R revealed.
The upcoming KTM 790 Adventure has been spied testing in Europe. Its concept version was showcased at the recently concluded EICMA show in Milan. Unlike the new 790 Duke which looked very different from the ‘Scalpel’ prototype that was showcased last year, the production 790 Adventure closely follows its concept.
2019 KTM 790 Adventure design and specs
The new Adventure’s design and bodywork are similar to the concept. However, there are obvious exceptions to meet production standards.
True to its name, the 790 Adventure is heavily inclined to off-roading and ‘touring’ aspects have been kept minimal. It is not known whether a ‘Tour’ variant of the bike will be made available.
The bike gets proper LED healamps with flyscreen and a handlebar equipped with protectors. Its front beak has been replaced by a conventional fender as well.
Long travel front and rear suspension has been provided. These are a USD and monoshock units respectively. Its dual front disc brakes, unlike the concept, aren’t petal units anymore and are mated to radial calipers. Single disc brake and upswept exhaust can be seen at the rear. Tires are knobby to provide best result in off-road terrain.
Power for the KTM 790 Adventure comes from a 799cc parallel twin motor. This mill produces 105 PS of power at 9,000 rpm and 86 Nm of torque at 8,000rpm on the Duke 790 but could be tuned differently on the Adventure version. The powerplant mates with a 6-speed gearbox.
2019 KTM 790 Adventure price and release date
The KTM 790 Adventure has been testing for some time now and will officially debut next year (hopefully before the EICMA). This could be along with the smaller 390 Adventure that is also in works.
Prices have not been revealed yet but could be near £9000 in UK and $11,499 in USA.
