If you thought the Peugeot 508 sedan was impressive, this one’s definitely taking it up a notch. The French manufacturer has just revealed a Station Wagon version of the car (rightfully titled the Peugeot 508 SW), with an elongated rear, slanting roof and an impressive little hatch.
Let’s check out what the car has to offer:
|Price in UK||£26,710|

2019 Peugeot 508 SW- Exterior and Interior
Obviously Peugeot has kept the fronts and sides similar to the 508 sedan. These include a rather stout fascia with sleek headlamps and vertical LED DRLs, and a strong A-pillar. The slanting roof at the sides doesn’t stick out (in a bad way), in fact, looks as good as or even better than the sedan.
The SW gets more familiar details at the back. Its LED taillights, bumper and the chrome-tipped exhaust are all lifted straight from the fastback. The plumpness of the hatch is its only giveaway.
It must me noted that the new 508 SW is slightly shorter and lower than the outgoing car. However, it does offer better rear headroom when compared to the sedan.
The Peugeot designers have had their way with the interior and the car’s iCockpit dashboard is absolutely stunning. The main attraction is its large 10.0-in central touchscreen with android auto, apple carplay and 3D navigation settings. The whole of the center console looks much more premium now.
Coming to the driver’s side, the small size of the steering wheel provides a sporty appearence and should be aggressive to hold. The set-up has been lowered to provide better view of the compact digital instrument console.
What about safety?
The 2019 Peugeot 508 SW’s EMP2 structure uses new welding techniques and better adhesive techniques to provide better structural rigidity while still reducing the car’s weight by 70kg.
Apart from the usual bunch of safety and drive-assist features, an infrared night-vision system is also provided. The car can detect and even stop for pedestrians and cyclists moving at 3mph to 87mph, both day and night! It can also park in and out of spaces.
2019 Peugeot 508 SW engine and transmission
Power for the new 508 SW comes from three engine options- a 1.6 petrol, 1.5 diesel and 2.0 diesel. The petrol mill is available in 177 horsepower (132 kilowatts) or 222 hp (165 kW) guises. The diesel ones, on the other hand, has three power trims – 128 hp (95 kW), 158 hp (118 kW), and 177 hp (132 kW). All but the base diesel comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission exclusively. The 1.5 diesel is available with a 6-speed manual.
2019 Peugeot 508 SW (touring) price and release date
The new 508 SW will be present at the upcoming Paris motor show later this year, and will go on sale across Europe by mid-2019.
The release of the normal variants will be succeeded by a more efficient petrol-hybrid model in latter half of 2019.
