Mercedes has revealed their 2020 A35 AMG Sedan just ahead of this year’s Paris Motorshow. It is basically the A35 without a hatch, so anyone hopelessly waiting for that version in the States should jump on this bandwagon. It has the same good looks and an added practicality of a boot (without anyone asking).
Front and profile are as you expect- clone of the A35, inspired from the Concept A. Some of the more noticeable features include low, slanted headlamps, prominent grille and subtle character lines. The car sits on an all-wheel-drive platform of 107.4-inch wheelbase.
Mercedes promises great trunk capacity even though the rear looks compact. Design wise, it is not be the best incorporation of a boot I’ve seen but does look great from some angles. Typical Mercedes features are dotted throughout.
Interior is spacious and a respectable headroom of 37.2 inches is provided. At front, nothing’s changed from the A35 hatch and a flat-bottomed sport steering wheel, fully digital cockpit fitted with latest MBUX infotainment system can be seen.
Power comes from a turbocharged four pot mill producing maximum of 302 hp. It is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox with paddle shifters. Power goes to the front wheels as default but the 4Matic all-wheel-drive can split to the rear when needed.
|Release date||Mid 2019 (expected)|
There are reliable reports that the sedan will reach US shores as a 2020 model.
