Maruti Ignis concept has been showcased at the Auto Expo 2016, along with the popular Vitara Brezza and the Baleno RS. The design is similar to the iM4 concept showcased at the Geneva motorshow last year. The car falls in to a Micro-SUV category, which currently includes the Mahindra KUV100 in India.
The front fascia is youthful and so are the sides. The side features a new design on the C-pillar, bold arches and large wheels. The rear doesn’t stand out as much, and gets a simple design. The Maruti Ignis is 3679mm long, 1579mm high and 1478mm wide.
Powering the 2016 Maruti Ignis is a 1.2 litre, 4 cylinder K12C Dualjet petrol engine that develops 91 PS of power and peak torque of 118 Nm, complimented by a DC synchronized motor. The engine is coupled to a CVT gearbox .
Moving on to interior, with a pop-up screen at the center, the Maruti Ignis gets a very beautiful looking new dashboard. The steering wheels are also new. The car is loaded with features like automatic climate control, cruise control, keyless entry, start-stop button, audio system with Bluetooth and heated front seat.
Safety features include front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, lane departure warning, Hill Hold, Hill Descent Control, LED fog lamps and automatic headlamps.
Maruti Ignis is expected to be priced between 6-9 lakhs (or even less), and will be sold out through the NEXA dealerships.
