After what was a sneak peek at the World Ducati week, the much talked about 939 SuperSport has been finally revealed at this year’s INTERMOT show. The bike will be marketed as a ‘sports’ Ducati for the roads, having good comfort and everyday usability. It will be available in two variants- Standard and S.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Claudio Domenicali, Ducati CEO said that he was extremely proud to reveal the latest Ducati 2017 bikes and added that;
Expert riders will appreciate the true sports personality of the SuperSport, its excellent road performance and apparent penchant for journeying and everyday use. Riders approaching the Ducati sports world for the first time will discover versatility, easy handling and, above all, the very essence of sports riding as Ducati sees it.
Keeping with its ‘sport’ tag, the bike comes with Panigale inspired styling at the front. The sides and rear, while still sharp, are made keeping in mind comfort of the rider. Overall, the design is familiar yet different.
A 937cc, liquid-cooled, 11° Testastretta L-twin engine that produces 113hp at 9000rpm and ~132 Nm of torque will do duty on the 939 SuperSport. This mill is also seen on Ducati’s Hypermotord.
Both the Standard and S variant gets the manufacturer’s staple tubular steel trellis frame, Pirelli tyres, single sided swingarm, three ride modes, Ducati safety pack (ABS, traction control) and ready to fit anti-theft system. Braking is done by dual 320m front and 245mm rear discs.
In addition to standard equipment, the S variant will be provided with gold Ohlin suspension (standard gets Marzocchi front and Sachs rear), Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) system for clutchless up and down gear changes, and a seat cover. Both the latter can be brought as optional equipment as well.
