For Swedish manufacturer Koenigsegg the word ‘Hyper ‘ isn’t quite good enough , and that is exactly why they have decided to call their latest entrant- the Regera, a ‘Megacar’. Frankly , no objection there , and along with the Agera RS ,Koenigsegg has just stolen the entire Geneva Motorshow limelight.
The Koenigsegg Regera
Having power and torque figures unheard of in a production car (let alone in a Hybrid), The Koenigsegg Regera has just pushed the benchmark up to a whole new level. The engine-electric combo is capable of producing 1,782 bhp of power and 2,000 Nm (what!) of torque. Saying that this is the worlds most powerful production car ,is an understatement.
So were does the car get its power ? A whole lot of it come from the 5.0 liter twin turbo V8 , which in its own can produce 1,085bhp of power at 7000rpm . The rest , about 697 bhp is produced by a combination of 3 electric motors. Two of the them are placed in each rear wheel , while the third provide ‘torque fill’ , and is placed in the crankshaft. What is even more impressive is that Koenigsegg claims an all-electric mileage of 56km !
And all these mind blowing figures amount to one thing- The fastest accelerating production car. A mere 20 seconds is needed to launch the car from 0-400 kmph , in comparison the recently unveiled Lamborghini Aventador SV takes 24 seconds to reach 300.
