In the short span of time it has been around, the 2017 Hyundai i30 has become the most versatile offering in the manufacturer’s portfolio. The hatchback hadalready spawned a tourer, and now, there’s a hot ‘N’ version and a fastback as well.
Here are more details:
|Maximum power||138 hp|
Hyundai i30 Fastback (sedan) exterior and interior
When coming to fastbacks made from hatchbacks, we’ve seen some good ones and some really bad ones. Fortunately, the i30 fastback belongs to the former category; in fact, it is one of the best we’ve seen. The car rides 30 millimeters (1.2 inches) lower than the i30, providing a graceful stance.
On the outside, the i30 fastback gets a familiar front fascia with large grille, sleek projector headlamp units, vertical air intakes and LED DRLs. The transition to a fastback is smooth and effortless, and the sloping roofline and gorgeous alloy wheels accentuate its tear drop shape.
Interior is similar to the hatchback and gets features like floating touchscreen infotainment system and sporty steering wheel. Safety features like Autonomous Emergency Braking, Driver Attention Alert, and Lane Keeping Assist are standard, along with some conventional ones.
There’s no shortage of colours, and the car is available in solid, metallic and even unique pearl tones. There are three interior colour schemes to choose from as well.
Hyundai i30 Fastback (sedan) engine, transmission
The i30 fastback is available in both petrol and diesel engine options. The most powerful 1.4-liter petrol is capable of producing 138-hp and is mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Its tiny 1.0-liter unit on the other hand can deliver 118hp, mated only to the manual option.
A 1.6-liter mill makes the sole diesel powertrain but it is available in two states of tune- 108hp and 134hp. Both the transmission options are available in this variant as well.
Hyundai i30 Fastback price and release date
Price of the sedan is to anyone’s guess at the moment but it will most definitely be above the hatchback. The car will debut in 2018, following the release of the i30N.
Hyundai i30 Fastback (sedan) India
There are no points for guessing that the i30 fastback won’t come to India. Hyundai already has a well-rounded sedan portfolio in the likes of Xcent, Verna and Elantra, and that won’t change anytime soon.
