The first pictures of the soon to be launched Indian Dark Horse has leaked online, just days before its official unveil at Chicago. The motorcycle as suspected will be based on the Indian Chief (that is currently available in India ), and is quite possibly the meanest bike to have ever come out of the American manufacturer’s stable.
The new Dark horse is a completely blacked out version of the chief ,with a single saddle and blackened body panels. The exhaust is finished in chrome , which along with the thin chrome strips lining the fenders are the only non-dark elements visible.
Mechanically, the familiar 1811cc air-cooled V-twin will continue to do its job in the new motorcycle. The engine is mated with a six-speed transmission , that sends power to the rear wheels via a belt drive.Suspension duties will be done by telescopic forks up front and pneumatic single shocks at the rear.
Though not confirmed , being a global model the Indian Dark Horse is expected to reach India later this year.American prices will start at $17,000 or Rs 10.5lakh .
In a press release last week Indian Indian motorcycles siad that:
‘Indian Motorcycle, America’s first motorcycle company, announce the launch of its newest motorcycle and the first of its 2016 model year, the Indian Chief Dark Horse. The grittiest new member of the Indian Motorcycle line-up will be showcased in a consumer reveal spanning two continents.
