Fiat Chrysler owned Jeep had one of the most popular stalls at this year’s Auto Expo. The manufacturer showcased their product range, that included the Jeep Grange Cherokee, it’s performance SRT variant, and the Wrangler, all of which will be available in India by mid 2016. The recently spied renegade and an India specific 2017 model is also expected from the manufacturer in the country.
Jeep India has already invested close to $280 million for developing a new product, at the Fiat’s Ranjangaon plant. Being locally produced the new model (which is expected to be launched in 2017) will be priced very aggressively. All other Jeep models are brought to country via the CBU route, and will be sold through numerous fiat dealerships until exclusive dealerships comes up. Major cites including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Kochi etc are expected to get these dealerships first.
Jeep SUV’s showcased at the Auto Expo 2016:
The Jeep wrangle that will be available in India gets both petrol and diesel engine options. The Jeep Wrangle petrol comes powered by a 3.6-litre V6 unit that generates 275 BHP of Power and 359 Nm of Torque. Its diesel variant develops 197 BHP of Power and 451 Nm of Torque. The car is expected to be priced between 25-30 Lakh INR.
Jeep India Grand Cherokee SRT
The Jeep Cherokee SRT will be powered only by a 6.4 litre engine that produces a massive 475 BHP of Power and 644 Nm of Torque. The car is expected to be price over 80 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi)
Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit
Jeep India will also be bringing top of the line, Grand Cherokee Summit to India. The car is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel motor churning 237bhp, mated to an eight-speed ZF gearbox. The SUV gets premium features like panoramic sunroof, 20-inch chrome alloy wheels, bi-xenon adaptive headlamps, heated and ventilated seats, an electric tailgate, multi information display with Sat Nav, and more
