According to a report by AutoCar India, Jeep is working on a new entry level model which will compete with the likes of Ford Ecosport, Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster in the country. It is codenamed Jeep MG or Jeep 526 and will be placed just below the Renegade globally
Unlike their India-bound Compass SUV, the Jeep MG will have a more boxy design similar to the Renegade. It will be based on the X6H platform and should excite the brand’s huge fan following in the country. Both the cars will be built at Fiat’s Ranjangoan facility.
Initially though, the SUV will be produced in Brazil and will only be made available in South American markets.
