Remember our earlier post on the How Fiat Chrysler Alliance  could bring the Jeep Back to India on 2014 , well that wouldn’t be happening soon . According to Jeep CEO , Mike Manley the brand would only be reaching India by 2015 as part of Fiats Global expansion Drive . The popular brand was expected to make official entry in to India by mid-2014 , However the plan was later delayed as Fiat felt that the Brand wouldn’t make the expected Impact on the market, And to an extend this seems to be a very good move .

Two of their most popular models the Cherokee and the Wrangler are expected to come first . However without proper preparation and localization of production both the SUV’s are not expected to make a big very impact (especially due to the hefty price tag that they would carry after the import duties ) . Further Jeep doesn’t have any sole dealership in the country , and Mr Manley wants atleast 15-20 of them set up here before Jeep is finally brought to India.

Though Mr Manley refused to say anything more about their future production plans , some sources say that Jeep could start local production at their Joint venture plant with Tata ,in Pune . However this does come with its own difficulties .

The entry of Jeep in to India is part of Fiat Chrysler’s Global expansion plan of selling 1 million Cars globally .This success would depend on strong performance of Jeep in north America , Australia and newer markets like India .
