The 2018 KTM 790 Duke has been revealed at the ongoing EICMA show in Milan. An extremely stunning but non-production prototype of this particular model (called the Scalpel) was present at the last year’s iteration of the show. The new model obviously comes with certain changes but the prototype’s spirit seems to have been kept intact.

The new Duke 790 falls in to highly competitive middleweight segment. This requires it to have a certain level of charisma, which none of its competitors or even bikes in its own series have. So, when compared to motorcycles such as the 1290 SuperDuke and Duke 390, the 790 Duke gains slightly different design elements.

All three of the above mentioned bikes have similar front fascia. There is a twin-split LED headlamp set-up, LED turn indicators and a naked digital instrument console. Its fuel tank looks similar to the others in the Duke series too and so does the slender cowling. Overall, this is an easily identifiable ‘Duke’.

However, when compare to others in the series, the Duke 790’s steel trellis frame is not exposed. This gives the motorcycle some bulk, especially at the rear. Large under-seat exhaust unit can be seen along with wide conventional swingarm (not single-sided like the SuperDuke). These are result of KTM incorporating design element from their previous middleweight offerings like the 690 Duke.

KTM 790 Duke is claimed to be ‘an ultimate street weapon’ and its all-new LC8c parallel-twin engine does nothing to hold this back. The compact engine produces 103 hp at 9,000 rpm and 63.6 pound-feet of torque at 8,000 rpm, on a bike that weighs just 372 pounds (168 kg) dry.

The motorcycle comes with dual disc brakes at front and single disc at rear. Suspension duties are carried out by non-adjustable WP forks and spring preload adjustable monoshock. ABS comes as standard.

Even more exciting are the host of electronic goodies, including cornering ABS, Supermoto mode (switchable rear ABS), lean-angle sensitive traction control, launch control, and quickshifter. These are all standard fitments.

Price and exact release date of the KTM 790 Duke is not available yet. However, you can check out the below page for expected values:
