Noushad A, a resident of Eloor Kuttikattukara and his son where traveling between Manjumal and Cheranellor junctions on their Maruti Baleno car, when a bike rider alerted them of smoke coming from underneath the bonnet. This prompted both of them to get out and before long the car was engulfed in flames. According to the owner, the car was barely 3 months old.
“I was taking my son Amal to his school at Edapally. We had hardly travelled four kms when the smoke was detected. As soon as we got out of the car after halting it on one side of Container road, it caught fire. The car was a new one and we were travelling with the AC on,”
said Noushad, a businessman.
Fire force officials were unable to reach the spot on time because of a traffic Jam that had formed, and by the time they reached there it was too late. Preliminary probe cites short circuit as the cause of fire.
The car was later transported to Nexa service center, Palarivattom and a a team from Delhi will inspect it on Saturday.
This week is turning out to be one of the worst for Baleno, especially in Kerala. Few days ago, a crash between a Baleno and VW Jetta in Perumbavoor (few kms from Kochi), saw the former becoming butt of jokes across India.
The picture speak for itself:
All passengers were unhurt in this crash as well.
We are hoping that Maruti addresses the new issues aptly.
