Range Rover Velar – Price, Launch Date, Exterior, Interior, Specs

RR Velar new

I know what you are thinking- seriously, another Range Rover? Yes, we loved the Evoque and we love the new sport, and we even accepted a convertible last year, but do we really need another one?

The Range Rover Velar for Land Rover is their first large Coupe SUV in the family that is intended to fill the gap between their Evoque and Sport line up. They have chosen to name it Velar, which is something from Range Rover prototypes of the 1970s, symbolising how important the product is to them.

A detailed inspection of the photos and it features reveal that the new Velar is not just a ‘lesser sport’; instead, it is a whole new SUV with its own unique character.

Let’s check out what it has to offer:

Range Rover Velar Exterior

New Land Rover Velar

The Range Rover Velar is has a typical range rover-ish design but is sportier with it lowered roof and raised window line.

At the front, the new SUV gets noticeable changes from the Evoque. Its bumper sports an upgraded design fit with large air intakes and bronze highlights. Familiar staggered headlights can be seen but the LED inserts are much more profound.

Sides get large 19” alloy wheel shod with 21” tires, while the rear is seen with a slim windscreen, wide spoiler, and large exhaust tip.

Range Rover Velar Interior

Velar cabin

The interior is what really sets apart the Velar from other Range Rover cars. Though it gets a similar, premium design, a host of new features and equipment have been brought in. The most notable among them is the trio of the new infotainment system, two of which (10-inch size) are beautifully positioned on the elegant center console. The third 12.3-inch screen is placed behind the steering wheel.

All buttons and knobs have been kept minimum and even the terrain response controls are not part of the infotainment system.  Also, a touchpad replaces the clunky control knobs on the steering wheel.

Another interesting feature of the Velar is that a silver rotary dial replaces the gear lever. This bodes well with the simple cabin set-up.
