Royal Enfield has just launched two new Thunderbird variants- Thunderbird 350X and 500X. They are sportier than the standard models but command a moderate premium.
More details of the: RE Thunderbird 500X
Like the Thunderbird 350 and Thunderbird 500, their ‘X’ versions also have similar design. When compared to the former though, they get cosmetic upgrades as well as flashy new colour schemes.

RE Thunderbird 350X vs Thunderbird 350- Design & specs
The Thunderbird has long been seen as the mature one in Royal Enfield’s line-up. In order to please a wider audience its X version takes up a sportier, youth-focussed design direction. We feel that the 350X is good, better even than the existing model.
The Thunderbird 350X ditches the traditionally bland colour schemes for flashy ones like red and white on its fuel tank. Gloss and matte shades are provided almost everywhere else. These give the bike a youthful appearance and is, arguably, its main attraction.
Black colours replace brushed silver on the 350X’s forks, headlight, exhaust cannister, handlebar and engine.
Another interesting change of the TB350X is its new single, stepped seat. A straight handlebar is provided instead of ape-hanger type handlebar. Though this looks good, it could slightly reduce comfort in longer rides. Also, in a first for Royal Enfield, alloy wheels are provided. They get body-coloured highlights and comes shod with tubeless tires.
The Thunderbird 350 and 350X are almost identical in specs and come powered by a 346 cc single-cylinder engine producing 19.8 bhp of power and 28 Nm of torque. Braking, suspension and wheel dimensions are all similar.
RE Thunderbird 350X vs Thunderbird 350 price
The Thunderbird 350 is priced starting from Rs. 1.46 lakhs (Ex-showroom, Delhi) and the 350X command a premium of nearly Rs. 10,000/-.
|Thunderbird 350 price||Rs. 1.46 lakhs|
|Thunderbird 350X price||Rs. 1.56 lakhs|
The Thunderbird range has always trailed the ‘Classic’ in terms of sales and the manufacturer will be hoping to reduce this number with their new bikes. Seeing as to how popular Royal Enfield is in this segment, they might just achieve this as well.
