Royal Enfield has begun this year by providing a long overdue update for their Classic 500 and Bullet 500 motorcycles. They have fitted these bikes with rear disc brake and ABS, which frankly isn’t something to be awfully excited about. But the sad news is that these are for bikes sold in UK market only and we in India might have to wait a bit more!
It doesn’t seem to be voluntary move from the manufacturer though, as stricter EURO-4 norms in Europe require better safety and emission ratings for motorcycles. This will be the case for India as well, as stricter safety norms will be implemented from this year on wards. So we should see these new models coming to India by mid-late 2017.
What about their 350cc models? The Classic 350 and Bullet 350 (&ES) should also get rear disc brake and optional ABS starting this year. No mechanical changes will be made on any of the models.
It will be interesting to see how the new updates will reflect on the bike’s pricing as any more could be bad for sales, especially with newer competition arising.
