Suzuki GSX R150, GSX S150 details – Will it launch in India?

Suzuki GSX150R

Suzuki GSX R150 and GSX S150 have been unveiled in Indonesia. They are the manufacturer’s much awaited answer to Yamaha R15, Honda CBR150R, Yamaha MT-15 and the likes in the market.

The GSX R150 is the fully faired version and comes with noticeable GSX-R traits which are more in tune with the recently unveiled GSX-125R rather than the Gixxer SF (which is available in India). It was spotted testing at numerous places prior to launch.

The Suzuki GSX S150 on the other hand would have been a huge surprise if not for a last minute spy shot. Its design is perspective and we’d rather like to call it unique.

Both the bikes get same headlamp and exhaust, digital instrument console, telescopic front forks, rear monoshock, front and rear disc brake and split seats. The entire rear section is also similar. However, certain bits like the gorgeous half fairing and the differently designed fuel tank on the ‘S’ version must be commended.

How competitive is their engine?

Suzuki GSX 150S India

Powering both the GSX models is a 147.3cc, single cylinder engine making 14.1 kW @ 11,000 rpm (18.9 bhp) and 13.8 Nm at 8,500 rpm. This is better than both the Yamaha R15 V2 and newer version of CBR150R that is available in Indonesia.

Will the new CBR150r launch in India?

So it is only when the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3 (expected) comes out that these bikes will be threatened in terms of power.

Suzuki GSX R150, GSX S150 will it launch in India?

With good distance between their GSX and Gixxer models, it is only fitting that Suzuki launch the GSX R150 in India. But nothing has been confirmed yet and it might be some time before we can see any actual development.

The Suzuki GSX S150 is unlikely to launch in India.
