The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is one of the most popular SUVs in the world. It is available in more than 190 countries and is known for its reliability and off-raoding prowess. It has however remained unchanged for a good part of this decade and newer competitions are slowly catching up. So, after almost nine years, the Japanese manufacturer is bringing out a proper facelift.

The new Prado remains true to its original form. However, the car receives changes that we usually see on facelifts. The vertical slat grille is now bigger and is flanked by imposing headlights. The bumper takes a new shape as well and is now much more generous in terms of air-inlets. The sides are almost unchanged while its rear is provided with new taillights and a restyled bumper. Alloy wheels options range in size from 17” to 19”.

Two more colours join the line-up- Avant-Garde Bronze metallic and Midnight Emerald Blue. These are in addition to eight existing colours.

Toyota claims that they have improved the interior quality and it surely looks like it as well. There’s a bigger eight-inch infotainment display, white backlit and central 4.2-inch color central and a new steering wheel.

The new Land Cruiser Prado also comes with Toyota’s latest Safety Sense which boasts of features such as pre-collision system, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and more. There are host of other safety features as well.

Wide range of powertrains

Since the new model is going to be released in over 190 countries (widest in Toyota’s portfolio), it also has an equally wide engine list. For those opting for petrol, the car comes with a 2.7-liter mill that produces 161 hp (120 kW) and 181 lb-ft (246 Nm), and a bigger 4.0-liter producing 249 bhp. Diesel enthusiasts can opt for a 2.8-liter, four-cylinder unit rated at 177 hp (133 kW) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm). There are both manual and automatic transmission units available.
