People familiar with our website will know that its almost time for another ‘2 year’ upcoming bikes list. We’ve been fairly successful in its last two iterations and have even started a new website ‘upcomingbikesindia.com‘ for those want to be updated all through the year.
In this post we will bring you some top bikes that could be launched in India in between 2017 –2018, under Rs. 1.5 lakh. Most manufacturers only confirm the launch of a new product weeks or a month before launch, so we cannot predict all of them correctly. Nonetheless we are bringing you some of the bikes that are either confirmed or still floating around in the rumor columns. If you are not one to stomach rumours or speculations, stop here and move on to our news page.
Bajaj Pulsar 200NS 2017
The Pulsar 200NS will be the first in this list to be launched. The bike has already begun to reach dealerships across the country. However it remains similar to the version that was discontinued and even its engine does not change.
Power for the 2017 Pulsar 200NS comes from a 199.5 cc single cylinder mill producing 23.52 PS of maximum power at 9,500 rpm and 18.3 Nm of peak torque at 8,000 rpm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
- Launch date- February-March 2017 (launched)
- Price- Rs. 96,453
- Specs – Pulsar NS200
Bajaj Pulsar 160NS
Bajaj showcased the Pulsar 160NS at dealers meet in Turkey. It is still unclear as to whether Bajaj will launch the bike in India as the existing Pulsar 150 is a consistent good seller for the manufacturer. However news of the Pulsar 150NS has been around for quite some time now (even spotted testing) and its probable that this updated version will be brought here next year.
Benelli’s TNT135 is the manufacturer’s next big launch in the country. Its TVC shoots have begun and launch should take place within the next month.
The TNT135 is a monkey bike and is thus different from all bikes currently in its price range. It takes inspiration from bigger Benelli siblings and looks good. Adequate power is also provided by its 134.7cc engine.
- Launch date- Delayed, festive season 2017
- Price- Rs. 1.28 lakhs*

Hero Xtreme 200S
Hero has some amazing bikes in development but the problem is that they are taking too much time to bring them out. A production version of the HX250 was showcased at last year’s Auto Expo but it is unlikely to be launched any time soon.
Their next launch will most probably be the Xtreme 200S which is placed atop the Xtreme line-up.
Hero had recently patented a production version of the XF3R for India and will most probably be their next Halo bike. It was showcased alongside the HX250 at the Auto Expo, 2016.
Hero Karizma V3
Hero is also rumored to be in initial stages of development of a Karizma V3, after the current generation turned out to be huge let down. More details will only be known later this year.
Every year since 2015 we add the updated CBR150R on our list of upcoming bikes for next year. The CBR siblings may not be a huge sales puller for the manufacturer but since the segment is growing at an exponential rate, it is hard to think that Honda will not tap in to the segment
Honda has confirmed that they will bring some new products to India in the next two years so hopefully there will be a CBR150R in there too.
- Launch date-no confirmation
- Price- Rs. 1.30 lakhs

Honda XRE 300
Honda XRE 300 adventure has been patented in India and might be Honda’s sole launch in sub-500cc category, in 2017.
KTM Duke 200 2017
There have been reports that the Duke 200 may be replaced by the Duke 250 in India in 2017. However no confirmation from KTM’s part is available on this matter so we will stick to Duke 200 for now. Either way, one of the two bikes will be launched in a completely new design and with slightly improved features.
- Launch date- 2017 (Launched)
- Price- Rs. 1.48 lakhs

Smaller Mahindra Mojo variant

This particular variant could be made available throughout India making it more accessible to the masses.
- Launch date- 2018*
- Price- Rs. 1.38 lakhs

Royal Enfield 350 with Disc
You might have seen the disc and ABS equipped RE Classic 500 and Bullet 500. It is expected that the manufacturer will make rear disc brakes standard across all their variants due stringent safety norms being implemented from this year.
Suzuki GSXR150 and S150
Suzuki has made no statement on whether they will launch the GSX150 siblings in India. However, the manufacturer is currently concentrating on the lower segments of the country (which is why the GSX-250 won’t be launched) which increase their chances.
Upcoming new bikes – Yamaha R15 V3
The Yamaha YZF-R15 V3 will most definitely come to India by later this year or next year. The bike got a thorough update recently (with better styling, more features and power) for Indonesia and it is only obvious that the ageing V2 will be replaced here as well.

- News- X21 at Auto Expo
Instead of the Xtreet, UM is looking at the feasibility of introducing their dual sport ‘Hypersport’ in India. If tests prove successful we may see the bike being launched as early as mid-2018.
