SUV segment is one of the most sought after in India’s automotive space. Their practicality, space, comfort and the ability to tread multiple terrains (and our roads) makes them more desirable. Recently popularity of Maurti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Creta and Toyota Innvoa Crysta.has breathed new life in to the compact SUV space and upcoming ones like Jeep’s Compass (C-SUV) keeps us on our toes.
Here’s a list of all upcoming compact and big SUVs that will reach India in the next two years
SUV
Hyundai Tucson
The 3rd generation Hyundai Tucson was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, Delhi. The car was also spotted testing on our roads.
It will be priced in between Hyundai’s Creta and Santa Fe and gets good amount of features and equipment.
Launch date: October 2016
Price: Rs. 18-22 Lakhs
Volkswagen Tiguan
Volkswagen Tiguan was also showcased at the Auto Expo. It will be based on Volkswagen’s MQB platform and will be powered by a 2.0-litre TDI engine.

Price: 28 to 30 lakh mark
Tata Hexa
Tata Hexa is the replacement to the manufacturer’s ailing ARIA in India. It comes with vastly improved design and better interiors. It will share engine with Safari Storme and an automatic transmission option might be part of the package

New Toyota Fortuner
The next generation Toyota Fortuner will be lighter (build on a new platform) and more spacious. It will come with more features, power and overall better looks.

Skoda Kodiaq
Skoda Kodiaq is an all-new 7-seater from the Czech manufacturer. It will cater to India’s premium SUV range on launch.
The car is based on VW’s MQB platform and gets wide range of features and equipment.

Hyundai Santa Fe facelift
Hyundai’s Santa Fe was launched in India in 2014 and since then it hasn’t received any major changes. Most markets have already received its new version and India shouldn’t be far behind.
The Santa Fe facelift comes with improved exterior and interior. It also comes with fresh features like Around View Monitoring (AVM), Smart Navigation System, JBL premium sound system with 10 speakers and Parking assist.
Launch date: Early 2017
Price: Rs. 27 lakh to Rs. 32 lakh.
Chevrolet Trailblazer
The Chevrolet Trail Blazer should be updated with a new front and improved dashboard. Almost everything else will remain intact.

Renault Kaptur
While the Kicks will replace Nissan’s Terrano in the market, it is unclear how Renault will market their Kaptur SUV. Replacing their Duster seems unlikely and they may position the Kaptur just above it in terms of price.

Jeep Compass 2017 (C-SUV)
Jeep is working on a new C-SUV (may be called Compass) based on the Renegade platform. It will be made in India at the manufacturer’s Ranjangaon facility.
Fiat Chrysler is slowly shifting their focus to Jeep brand in India and with localisation in place, we can expect very competitive prices (unlike others in thier range)

Nissan Kicks
Recent reports state that the Nissan Kicks will replace the Terrano in Indian market. It comes with a youthful new design and more features.
Launch date: Mid 2017

Sub Compact
Tata Nexon
Tata Nexon compact SUV will debut in 2017.It will look similar to the final concept showcased at this year’s Auto Expo 2016, Tata giving more preference to its design.
Expect some features from Zest & Hexa to be included.
Maruti Suzuki Ignis
The Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be hoping to enjoy the same, if not more customers than their other popular SUV – Vitara Brezza. It has the looks to boast and a great interior.
The Ignis’s launch is right on schedule and will happen this festive season.

Hyundai Carlino
Hyundai Carlino is a very recent concept showcased by the manufacturer at this year’s auto Expo. Nothing much can be said about the car as it will change drastically nearing production, which should take at least 2 years.

Ford Ecosport facelift
Ford Ecosprt will receive its first major facelift since launching in India, in 2017. The car is yet to make global debut.
The new car will come with slight exterior changes, mostly at the front. Interior will be improved and should get a new touchscreen infotainment system.
Engine and other specifications are likely to remain unchanged.

Mahindra’s Tivoli Based C-SUV
A new Mahindra SUV based on Ssangyong Tivoli crossover is in works. It will debut in next 14-15 months and could get 1.5-litre diesel and an all-new 1.5-litre petrol engine options.
Launch date: 2017-2018
