While reactions were mixed when the ‘conventional-faced’ 2019 BMW S1000RR was unveiled at EICMA 2018, the hype surrounding it has only grown by each passing day. BMW says that their new flagship is a “Revolution rather than an Evolution” and from what they reveled, this sure seems to be the case!

2019 BMW S1000RR- Price and release date
The new S1000RR was revealed at the 2018 EICMA in November. The bike will begin to reach dealerships early next year and could command a few bucks more than the outgoing model.

Powering the standard variant is an all-new 998 cc in-line four engine producings 204 bhp and 83 lbs•ft of torque. That’s 8 bhp more for a bike that weighs 25 pounds less- at 434 pounds (197 kilograms). Top speed is expected to be 185+ mph (299 kph).
Aiding the engine is BMW ShiftCam valve train with improved timing and optimization, while ‘Full Floater Pro Kinematics’ in the rear wheel suspension provides better back-end feel. Features like six-axis IMU with ABS or ABS Pro, and Dynamic Traction Control are standard. Also coming in base is DTC Wheelie Control, launch control and pit-lane speed limiter and four ride modes- Rain, Road, Dynamic and Race. Semi-active electronically controlled suspension (DDC) and three ‘Race Pro’ modes are optional.
Design
The BMW S1000RR retains its compact shark fairing but with a very conventional fascia. While it does look good, a huge part of what made the bike truly special is gone. The front fairing has always been a mixed bag- with a lot of people liking and disliking the bike for it. With this new model, BMW hopes to bring the latter group to its front while consolidating the loyalists with upgrades to almost everything else they have liked through the previous generations.
