Heavy Duty spec comparison
Dodge’s RAM Heavy Duty is available in two variants- 2500 & 3500. The entry-level gasoline V8 is capable of producing 410hp of power, which is ten more than the Chevy HD. The Ford Super Duty, which comes gets two gasoline models, claims to have surpassed this number.

As you can see, V8 is the only gasoline option available in all three models. Six-speed automatic is the preferred transmission choice but both Ford and Chevy provide a smoother 10-speed option higher-up. Ram doesn’t have any such provision though. It is, however, unique in that it comes with a 6-speed manual transmission- the lone flag-bearer of a dying tradition.

Coming to diesel, RAM’s 6.7L turbo diesel in its highest tune can deliver 1000 lb-ft of torque. This is 900 more than Chevy. Horsepower is a modest 400, 45 less than the latter and surprisingly, RAM’s towing capacity is lower too. Both are capable of pulling in excess of 35,000 lb!
Ford ‘s Super Duty is unlikely to beat Chevrolet’s horsepower nor RAM’s torque.
