Honda Neo Sports Cafe 1000 teased

Honda Neo Sports Cafe 1000 reveal

Honda has teased their upcoming liter-class Neo Sports Cafe, prior to its official debut at the EICMA 2017. There were rumours that the next-generation CB1000R will follow a retro design language and this was probably what that amounts to. The company is developing this bike under ‘Project N.S.C’.

A concept version of the bike is currently being showcased at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show.

Honda Neo Sports Cafe design and specs

We’ve already said that the retro-CB1000R or rather the Neo Sports Café could adopt design from the Honda 150SS Racer concept. It had recently spawned a production version in the form of CB150R ExMotion in Thailand. Looking at their pictures side-by-side, it is pretty easy to see the similarities

The Honda Neo Sport Cafe will have a single LED headlamp set-up at the front. Its tank looks muscular and the overall design can be described as neo-classic. The tank extensions and other bodyworks have brushed metal finish.

The bike’s single step-up seats closely hug the fuel tank. At the rear, tyre huggers sport the number plate holder and LED indicators. Other feature include large all-digital instrument console, chrome engine accents and stubby upswept exhaust with twin-slash exist ports.

Power for the bike will come from the same 999cc in-line four cylinder engine that is on the CBR1000RR Fireblade. While it can produce 191.7 PS at 13,000 rpm and 114 Nm of torque at 11,000 rpm on the latter, these numbers will be tuned down on the cafe racer.

Suspension duties are carried out by USD forks at front and monoshock at rear. Stopping power comes from twin disc at front and single disc at rear. Most specifications could be shared with the CBR1000RR. The staple singe-sided swingarm has been retained.
