The Volkswagen Tiguan has been launched in India for a price starting from Rs. 27.68 lakh to Rs 31.04 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). This is the 2nd generation of the popular SUV and was first showcased in India at the Auto Expo 2016. Production of the car is in full swing at VWs Aurangabad facility in Maharashtra.

The Tiguan will be avaialble in two variants Comfortline and Highline. Currently the car is only avaialble in 5-seat option but a 7-seat variant could be added later on.

Volkswagen Tiguan Exterior Design
The Tiguan is based on the MQB platform, which will also be used on Skoda’s upcoming Karoq, and has been made lighter by 50 kg and more spacious. Its design language has taken inspiration from sister cars likes the Passat and golf, and provides a premium feel. The front gets dual LED headlamps, new grilles, beautifully designed bumper and chiselled bonnet.
The Comfortline variant gets 17″ alloy wheels while the Hhighline trim rides on 18 inchers.
The new VW Tiguan measures 4485 mm in length (70 mm increase), 1839 mm (30.5 mm increase) in width, 1633 mm in height (33 mm lower), and has a wheelbase of 2682 mm (76 mm longer).

Volkswagen Tiguan Interior
On the inside, the Volkswagen Tiguan gets a premium dashboard and center console, fitted with features like sporty dual seats, driver assistance, three-zone automatic climate control and a standard five-inch non-colour touchscreen infotainment system. Features like ABS, ESC and airbags (front and curtain) are available from the base Comfortline trim itself.
In addition, the Highline grade gets a panoramic sunroof, 8″ touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, and keyless entry with push-button start function.
Volkswagen Tiguan Engine, Specification
Though Volkswagen offers a number of engine options for the Tiguan all over the world, in India, it comes with a 2.0-litre, TDI unit. This mill is capable of producing 143bhp and 340Nm of torque, and comes mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. Volkswagen has claimed that the mileage of the new car has improved, and so has the interactive driving experience. Base variant will be front-wheel drive, while the top end model will get VW’s 4MOTION AWD system.
